As such, at the very worst, we are usually exactly on time.

In the past, apart from heavy traffic, this technique has helped us navigate unforeseen challenges like vehicle breakdowns and accidents. And while it may seem inconvenient for us to always be excruciatingly early, the smiles on our customers’ faces always make it worthwhile.

In the case of this move, things weren’t any different. Our client was very happy that despite what we had notified him to be a very stressful traffic situation, we managed to get his belongings moved in time. Ultimately, he provided great feedback and promised to hire us again!

The month of February has been extremely busy and exciting with the final month of Summer coming to an end and hundreds of new and existing customers requesting to move before the colder Autumn months begin in March.

During this unusual time due to Covid-19 we thought Jake removals Melbourne would advise some reminders of steps we are taking and advising customers to take to keep everyone as safe as possible during this time as this is our highest priority.

With the roll out of the vaccine the world will hopefully be back to “normal” within the year but until then we do need to continue our safety measures.

Limiting interaction is encouraged at the moment, so while you can still expect the same high level of customer service from our removalists that Jake removals Melbourne is known for, you can also expect some small changes.

These include our staff refraining from shaking hands and maintaining a safe distance from you and each other throughout the move, in accordance with recommended social distancing practices. Our removalists do travel with and use hand sanitiser throughout each move, in addition to using essential personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves and face masks.

Other steps you can take, though not required, include:

  • Limiting the number of people in the house on move day, ideally to just one responsible person, aside from our removalists.
  • Having your own pen close at hand for any documentation you may need to sign.
  • Providing our removalists with access to a washroom or bathroom, so that they can regularly wash their hands throughout the move, in addition to using the hand sanitiser they all travel with.
  • Either move all boxes into a single room close to the entrance our removalists will use, or moving them into a single space within each room. This helps speed up the actual move, while also limiting unnecessary movement through your home.
  • Provide our removalists with floor plans for each room in your new home, showing where they should place the boxes or specific furniture items when offloading your belongings.

Note that none of the steps listed above are required for house moves taking place during coronavirus restrictions on movement and interaction, but they can make the move a little easier and safer for everyone involved.

We have welcomed hundreds of new and existing customers moved through January, through the stormy rainy torrential Summer days to the scorching heat and sometimes the hurricane like winds which for Victoria is standard.

We have also recruited new staff members throughout the month to assist with our moves as the company continues to grow in popularity through word of mouth by our extremely happy new and existing loyal customers.

We feel extremely lucky and blessed to be part of such a great team and to also be involved in an industry which has seen very little impact though the devastating COVID-19 pandemic.

Throughout this time we continue to gladly adhere to the safety guidelines provided by the Victorian Government to ensure all staff members and customers are as safe as possible during this everchanging and unforgettable moment in history.

We also continue to evolve our online booking and phone systems, trucks and work place protocols to ensure we are at the top of our game to guarantee we can operate as best as possible and offer the highest level or customer service.

Occasionally we have had to adapt the working environment like many to between the office and from home on multiple occasions which provided some interesting challenges but nothing we could not handle.

My personal challenge highlights would be my two small dogs deciding to bark and chase each other throughout the house during an important phone call or my partner deciding to make a coffee on the noisy espresso machine whilst having a loud conversation oblivious to me working.

With a roll out of an always controversial new vaccine we hope that will bring back some much needed normality to the world and look forward to the months ahead assisting many people with their home, business, office or very small single or few item moves here at Jake Movers Melbourne.

So when a client recently sought out our help on a moving job, we naturally tried to do so. The client lived in a four-bedroom house in Bayswater and wanted to move to a new place in Doncaster. The house was filled with furniture and had the potential to be a moving nightmare.

Before we started the move, we had to disassemble everything we could, carefully storing the screws. We then had to wrap the furniture pieces in bubble wrap to prevent any scratches and marks. While we still wrapped furniture pieces that couldn’t be disassembled, we were forced to use sliders to ease them out of the home and into the truck.

And when it came to packing items in the truck, we started with the heavy-duty ones like the couches before placing the light ones. To ensure the safety of our team and to avoid damaging the house’s surfaces we used a lot of dollies and lifting straps to move things around. Since this was an 8-hour move, we also had to drive carefully to avoid any sudden turns.

When we finally got to the Doncaster house, we still had to unpack the truck and assemble everything we had previously disassembled. While this was undoubtedly a long and tedious move, it was definitely worth it seeing the smiles on our customers’ faces.
